40 Days & 40 Nights Offers Meaningful Programs for the High Holy Days

40 days

The Greater Miami Jewish Federation in partnership with Mishkan Miami: The Jewish Connection for Spiritual Support and the Rabbinical Association of Greater Miami introduces 40 Days & 40 Nights. This new, collaborative virtual project provides meaningful ways to learn, engage and connect this High Holy Day season. A specially-designed website lists a compendium of virtual events that begin on Saturday, August 22 and conclude on Yom Kippur,Monday, September 28. Local synagogues will offer everything from concerts and study sessions to lectures and unique services.

40 Days & 40 Nights is an innovative resource for the Jewish community during the traditional 40-day period of personal introspection that begins a full month before Rosh Hashanah and continues through Yom Kippur, while allowing users to maintain COVID-19 best practices. Creative programs are planned to bring Jews closer to their sacred rituals and traditions in observance of Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur. “Our Miami Jewish community will embark on a virtual journey of preparedness together, supporting our efforts of teshuva (repentance), tefillah (prayer) and tzedakah (social justice),” explained Rabbi Rachel Greengrass, President of the Rabbinical Association of Greater Miami. “Each of these three Jewish concepts reflects our quest for deeper connections with ourselves, deeper connections with G-d and sacredness in our world and deeper connections with our fellow human beings.”

“We have invited all of Miami’s Jewish community spiritual leaders, educators, musicians, meditative experts and artists to interpret the themes of the High Holy Days and contribute their ideas to this collaboration,” said Rabbi Frederick Klein, Executive Vice President of the Rabbinical Association of Greater Miami. “These classes and workshops will allow community members to deepen their connection to our sacred rituals and traditions and learn from the diversity and richness of our community.” For more information, click here.
