Second Annual Israel Mini Mission Is A Success

The Annual Israel Mini Mission this past Wednesday was a whirlwind day tour of Federation-funded organizations, acquainting Israeli Miamians who return home for the summer with some of our vital work in the Jewish homeland. The first stop was the Jerusalem Headquarters of the rescue organization United Hatzalah, where Mission participants were honored with a ribbon-cutting ceremony for a life-saving e-Bike-Ambulance, donated by our Federation, which is equipped with first response supplies and can arrive at the scene of an emergency in less than three minutes. They also visited Tahel, a crisis center for women and children and Shalva, the National Center for the Care and Inclusion of Persons with Disabilities. Later, the group spent time at the Hinam Center, a nonprofit that addresses social polarization between different factions in Israel and works to create a tolerant society through education and togetherness, where they engaged in an open discussion between Jews and Arabs, and Tech Career, a Federation-funded Ethiopian-Israel Initiative that helps young Ethiopians integrate into the world of high tech. The overall success of the Israel Mini Mission, according to attendee Israel Mor Jossef, was a tour that proved to be “enriching, fun and filled with meaningful experiences.”
