Award-Winning Summer For Federation Partner Agencies

Summer 2022 was a season of awards and recognition for three Federation agencies that receive yearly allocations from the Annual Greater Miami Jewish Federation/UJA Campaign. Jewish Community Services of South Florida (JCS) won the Greater Miami Chamber of Commerce (GMCC) 2022 NOVO Award – Innovative Program Excellence, Organizational Budget of $2 Million and Above Category; the Miami Beach Jewish Community Center (MBJCC) was recognized as an “Agency of Excellence” by the Miami Beach Chamber of Commerce; and the Miami Jewish Film Festival (MJFF), a program of the Federation subsidiary Center for the Advancement of Jewish Education, was named one of the 50 Best Film Festivals in the World by Moviemaker magazine. Federation prides itself in strategically supporting community organizations with the ability to do good far and wide. Mazal tov to our fantastic partners on these well-deserved honors.

JCS received its NOVO Award at the GMCC’s September 7 Trustee Luncheon. The award honors nonprofits in Miami-Dade County that have demonstrated innovative excellence and feature best non-profit business practices. “This award is not only a testament to our high-standard quality of care, but the community’s trust in our commitment to serve them,” said JCS Board Chair Scott Singer. “We look forward to the year ahead as NOVO Award recipients and remain dedicated to serving as our community’s safety-net.”

MBJCC was honored by the Miami Beach Chamber in celebration of its 10 years of recreational, social and education services to the surrounding community. MBJCC also was cited by South Florida Family Life magazine for its outstanding after-school and camp programs. Additionally, Miami New Times recently included the fitness center at the JCC on its list of the 10 Best Gyms in Miami-Dade County and the JCC Association honored MBJCC with Programming Excellence in Cultural Arts. “We’re very proud of the accolades that our JCC has received and appreciate the generous support of the Greater Miami Jewish Federation,” said Chief Executive Officer Paul Frishman. “This recognition proudly reflects our positive impact on Miami Beach and the overall community.”

MJFF was named to Moviemaker’s 50 Best Film Festivals in the World for the third consecutive year. MJFF experienced a historic level of attendance in 2022 for its milestone 25th anniversary. A hybrid two-week event that was presented virtually nationwide and under-the-stars throughout Miami, MJFF attracted the most viewers in its history and established itself as the largest festival of its kind in the world. “This year’s festival reminded us of the place that cinema has in our lives and its power to educate, inspire hope, and remind us of humanity’s strength,” said MJFF Executive Director Igor Shteyrenberg. “This is at the heart of what our festival is all about, and why we are so proud to share this incredible recognition with all our fans and supporters, who make all the work we do possible.”
