Create a Jewish Legacy Celebrates Five Years of Success
The Greater Miami Jewish Federation’s Create a Jewish Legacy (CJL) program recently celebrated its 5-year anniversary with an event honoring Federation’s 13 partner agencies in securing legacy gifts for Miami’s Jewish institutions. During the party, Arlene Schiff, National Director of the Harold Grinspoon Foundation’s LIFE & LEGACY initiative, shared that CJL and its representatives have engaged in more than 700 legacy conversations over the past five years, securing more than 650 legacy commitments with an estimated value of $40 million in future gifts, which will benefit the Jewish community. Without the generous support of the LIFE & LEGACY initiative and Jewish Federations of North America (JFNA), this program may not have been possible.
Through one perpetual gift, CJL provides donors with the opportunity to support a variety of organizations and interests that are most important to them, such as caring for the elderly, Jewish education, Israel advocacy and experience programs, and so much more.
As a tribute to those who have generously included the Jewish community in their estate plan, CJL is creating the Book of Life, a special online album that will contain stories and photos of generous donors.
CJL’s participating agencies are Beth Torah Benny Rok Campus/Hochberg Preparatory School, Alper JCC Miami, Jewish Community Services of South Florida, Kesher, L.D., Miami Beach JCC, Michael-Ann Russell JCC, Scheck Hillel Community School, Talmudic University, Temple Beth Am, Temple Beth Sholom, Temple Israel of Greater Miami, Temple Sinai of North Dade and University of Florida Hillel.
