Everything But the Turkey Prepares Nearly 3,000 Food Items for Thanksgiving

With the help of hundreds of passionate volunteers, Everything But the Turkey’s B’nai Mitzvah year was a resounding success! The annual event organized by the Greater Miami Jewish Federation Jewish Volunteer Center and Repair the World works to create a meaningful Thanksgiving for individuals and families served by local non-profit organizations. This past Sunday, more than 400 volunteers spread between two locations made 1,200 sandwiches, 600 pies and baked 1,000 cookies that were delivered to Miami Rescue Mission, The Salvation Army and Camillus House. The popular hands-on event allowed volunteers to participate in person by bagging lunches at Aventura Turnberry Jewish Center and Bet Shira Congregation or picking up ingredients to prepare and bake pies at home and return them later that day for distribution.
