HFLA Provides Safety Net to Vulnerable Populations

Long before COVID-19 caused widespread unemployment, food insufficiency and financial strain, Federation offered a social service safety net to our most vulnerable populations. Now, in the midst of the pandemic, Federation is still providing critically needed help. When the coronavirus crisis began, Federation quickly sprang into action and created a $1.1 million fund to provide emergency grants of up to $1,500 to pay essential bills on behalf of individuals and families impacted by the pandemic and interest-free loans of up to $3,000 through our Hebrew Free Loan Association of Miami (HFLA). To date, more than $556,000 has been distributed in grants and loans to 325 people, representing more than an eight-fold increase in financial assistance provided by Federation, both through emergency grants and through HFLA. This is exactly why Federation exists. If you are in the position to help, please consider making a donation here.
