First Group of Honeymoon Israel Returns
Seventeen Miami couples, including interfaith, multi-racial and LGBTQ+ partners, recently returned from the first cohort of Honeymoon Israel, a highly subsidized, nine-day trip to explore the country and build meaningful, lasting Jewish connections. The young adults hiked Masada, celebrated Shabbat in Jerusalem, floated in the Dead Sea, traveled to the mystical city of Tzfat, visited the Syrian border, drummed to Israeli music and more, while strengthening their Jewish identities and relationships with their spouses. For newlywed Katie Miller, the experience was meaningful and educational. “My husband is Jewish and it was an amazing opportunity to be immersed in Jewish culture and religion,” she said. “I am a seasoned traveler and this was probably the best trip I have been on. I loved learning about the history of Israel and sharing Shabbat and Havdalah with an eclectic group of people who were equally excited to be there.” To learn more about Honeymoon Israel and when the next cohort will be going, please contact Nicole Erdfrocht at nerdfrocht@gmjf.org.
