News From the Greater Miami Jewish Federation

Supported in part by your donations to Federation’s Annual Campaign, JBlend Miami, an innovative education initiative, is celebrating its third anniversary. Designed by Federation subsidiary agency the Center for the Advancement of Jewish Education (CAJE), in collaboration with the Avi Chai Foundation, JBlend combines traditional instruction with digital tools to provide highly personalized student experiences and introduce new models for lifelong learning in four of Miami’s Jewish day schools.

Throughout the Israel at 70 Miami Mission, participants visited a number of programs and agencies supported by your donations to Federation’s Annual Campaign and our historic overseas partners.

Calling all Aventura Moms and Dads! Meet your new PJ Library Aventura Community Connector, Suzanne Gindi, at an upcoming activity this summer. Suzanne will help local families with young children build social connections and engage in Jewish life, programming and learning by hosting family-focused activities in the Aventura area.

Join the Greater Miami Jewish Federation to honor and thank Amy N. Dean for her service as 2016-2018 Chair of the Board at the 80th Annual Meeting on Thursday, May 31 at 5:30 p.m. at Jungle Island.

Less than one week ago, 825 Miamians had a private audience with Israeli President Reuven Rivlin. It was a fitting finale to the Greater Miami Jewish Federation's Israel at 70 Miami Mission.

Seven exceptional Jewish teens have been selected for the inaugural cohort of the Stephen Muss Impact Fellowship. Thanks to the generosity of Stephen Muss and Federation, the group will spend this fall studying at Alexander Muss High School in Israel (AMHSI).

Mark your calendar for the Greater Miami Jewish Federation 80th Annual Meeting on Thursday, May 31 at 5:30 p.m. at Jungle Island. Chaired by Ray Ellen and Alan Yarkin, the program will honor Amy N. Dean for her service as 2016-2018 Chair of the Board, and install the 2018-2019 Federation Officers and Board of Directors, Trustees, Leadership Council and Council of Jewish Organizations.

Students from eight Jewish day schools competed in a robotics tournament during the Second Annual Miami Jewish Day School Robotics Festival.

Following the Israel at 70 Miami Mission, 15 dedicated women extended their time abroad to participate in the Women’s Amutot Initiative Study Group.

Throughout the week, Mission participants have had the opportunity to visit a variety of agencies supported by Federation, our overseas partners — the American Jewish Joint Distribution Committee and The Jewish Agency for Israel — and other non-governmental agencies.

Before arriving in Israel, 224 Mission participants traveled through Warsaw and Krakow, learning about the atrocities Jews suffered during the Holocaust.

Rosh Lowe, WSVN Channel 7’s General Assignment Reporter, has been traveling with the Israel at 70 Miami Mission all week long. He has reported from sites across Israel, including Gaza, the Kotel and Yad Vashem, bringing Miami powerful stories of the country’s pride and resilience, as well as the Mission participants' reactions.

Through Federation’s Annual Campaign, Israeli and Diaspora young Jews master a well-formed approach to life at Kiryat Yearim, one of Israel’s many mechinas, pre-military academies.

Last week, participants in the Pre-Mission to Poland attended the Annual Yom HaShoah Ceremony at the Holocaust Memorial Beach. This week, they joined thousands of people from around the world to mark Yom HaShoah on the March of the Living.
