JDC Operates a Busy Border Medical Clinic for Ukrainian Refugees
Since the war in Ukraine began, the American Jewish Joint Distribution Committee (JDC) has treated more than 20,000 refugees at its JDC NATAN medical clinic in Przemyśl, Poland, Ukraine’s busiest border crossing. Staffed by doctors, nurses, emergency medical technicians and social workers, the clinic tends to displaced individuals 24/7 following their nerve-racking journey escaping Russian bombardment and military assaults. There’s also an improvised pharmacy to treat any injuries, illnesses and anxieties patients may be experiencing. "JDC is doing this nonsectarian work that is humanitarian aid with a Jewish spirit, a Jewish foundation and Jewish people showing the world what Judaism is really all about — having a broad sense of generosity of spirit and readiness to help people in need anywhere," said Dr. Avery Hart, a volunteer of the NATAN medical clinic.
