Nearly 700 Venezuelan Jews Attend First Limmud Caracas
Nearly 700 Venezuelan Jews—or 10 percent of the country’s Jewish population—attended the first-ever Limmud Caracas this past Sunday. Sponsored in part by our overseas partner, the American Jewish Joint Distribution Committee, the festival offered more than 30 sessions aimed at deepening residents’ connections to their Jewish identity, including Israeli film, cooking, art, Yiddish, tzedakah and more. Despite the ongoing political upheaval, Limmud Caracas offered a sense of joy and spiritual fulfillment to the dwindling Venezuelan Jewish population.
