Lions on the Loose Offers Unique Programs for Women Philanthropists
Federation Women’s Philanthropy recentlly launched "Lions on the Loose," a new initiative of programs designed specifically for Lion of Judah donors. The inaugural event was hosted by Julie Russin Bercow, Past Women's Philanthropy President, at her home. A group of approximately 40 women who share values of generosity, compassion and commitment attended. They heard from Tal Ohana, the mayor of Yerucham, Israel, Federation's partner city. Mayor Ohana shared her personal journey and insights as a woman leader in Israel. She is the first woman to be elected mayor of the city and was recently recognized by Forbes magazine as a “Power Woman.” Created in 1972 by Norma Kipnis Wilson and Toby Friedland (z’l”), the Lion of Judah program brings together women whose charitable commitment of $5,000 or more to the Annual Greater Miami Jewish Federation/UJA Campaign. Lions on the Loose is being chaired by Phyllis Sheinman. Future programs for the year are being planned.
