Federation Launches Youth Mental Health Initiative
May is Mental Health Awareness Month and Federation is shining a light on this important issue. In response to the US Surgeon General’s warning of “a mental health crisis among our nation’s youth,” Federation launched a Youth Mental Health Task Force in January. This multiprong initiative has three main priorities: raising awareness and destigmatizing seeking help; educating teens, parents and professionals working with young adults; and ensuring the availability of support services and tools. "Our community is not immune to these trends and we are committed to addressing this national emergency," said Task Force Chair Elise Scheck Bonwitt. To assess the area's most pressing needs, Federation is conducting a survey of teens, young adults, parents and professionals. Make your voice heard and participate in the survey by clicking here. Additional local resources include the JTeen website and our Jewish Community Access Services, a referral and helpline that can be reached at 305.576.6550.
