Israel Welcomed Historic Amount of Olim in 2021
Despite the ongoing challenges of the pandemic and the violence erupting from Gaza, more than 27,000 olim (immigrants) made Israel their new home in 2021. According to data released from the country’s Ministry of Aliyah and Integration and Federation overseas partner The Jewish Agency for Israel, this represents a 30% increase over 2020 and includes the highest number of American Jews since 1973. Upon landing in Israel, The Jewish Agency helps new arrivals find their footing with intensive language and acculturation classes. From establishing a bank account and obtaining a driver’s license to finding a new job or even enlisting into the Israel Defense Forces, the olim have a helping hand as they become new Israeli citizens.
