Participate in Mishkan Miami’s Refuat Ha-Nefesh and Make a Difference in the Lives of Others
Applications are being accepted for Mishkan Miami’s Refuat Ha-Nefesh, a unique volunteer experience that provides training for Jews ages 21 and older in the art of Jewish spiritual care. A program of the Greater Miami Jewish Federation, Mishkan Miami offers spiritual support throughout the Jewish community, providing consolation and guidance to those in need. Volunteers will receive instruction by rabbis and chaplains as well as doctors, bereavement specialists and social workers followed by guidance in finding the right opportunities to apply these skills, including health care, long-term care facilities, or strengthening congregational caring community capacity. Students will also complete a volunteer project geared toward helping older adults and others who are lonely, ill or require help or companionship. Additionally, participants will learn to develop legacy, art, music and creative ritual projects. Trainings will be a combination of virtual Tuesday evening sessions and three in-person Sunday morning sessions from December 17, 2023 to April 9, 2024. For further information, please call Director of Mishkan Miami Rabbi Fred Klein at 786.866.8655. Click here to apply to the program before the deadline of Wednesday, November 17. Following the application, Mishkan Miami will contact you to schedule an informational interview.
