Once a Recipient of Service, Evgenia is Now Paying it Forward

“It was a call from within — simply help people,” shares Evgenia Kasap, a call center coordinator for Federation’s overseas partner the American Jewish Joint Distribution Committee (JDC). As a single parent, Evgenia has turned to JDC's safety net over the years for help to provide food, bedding, school supplies and more for her two sons. Now, she’s the voice on the other end of the line, helping Ukrainian refugees find a place to sleep in the middle of the night along their escape route, offering moral support to those all alone, or providing them with medical supplies and food. “Jews are always united together and helping each other, because help — help that goes both ways — is so important,” she adds. Click here to see Evgenia’s story in her own words. Federation and our partners on the ground have been bringing Jews to safety and ensuring those who remain in the war zone have what they need.
