Seeking Volunteers For Refuat Ha-Nefesh Spiritual Care Program

Mishkan Miami: The Jewish Connection for Spiritual Support is seeking participants for the Refuat Ha-Nefesh Spiritual Care Program, a remarkable volunteer opportunity that brings comfort and spiritual solace to individuals in need. The virtual program offers practical training on the mitzvah of bikur cholim (visiting the sick) and compassionate visits to people who are lonely or ill. Professional instruction and resources are provided at no charge and in a group setting by rabbis, doctors and social workers. Topics include the Jewish philosophy of visiting the ill; issues and concerns facing the elderly; Jewish perspectives on end-of-life issues and death; how to handle dementia and depression in seniors with compassion and more. Volunteer training begins on January 3 and runs through March 28 with sessions taking place weekly from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. The training also will include volunteer virtual or in-person mitzvah projects.
