Federation Overseas Partners Help Victims of Rocket Attacks
Earlier in the week, Israel once again found itself under rocket fire from Islamic Jihad in Gaza. Greater Miami Jewish Federation overseas partners immediately sprang into action helping those directly affected by the attacks. More than 450 rockets were fired over the course of three days, injuring nearly 80 Israelis and damaging homes, factories and roads. In response, The Jewish Agency for Israel Fund for the Victims of Terror provided immediate emergency assistance to families whose homes suffered direct hits. Aid was also provided to 6,500 new immigrants in absorption centers and 5,000 seniors in assisted living facilities. The American Jewish Joint Distribution Committee opened a hotline for elderly residents living alone and also partnered with social workers to provide immediate trauma care to at-risk families and vulnerable populations. Your Federation donation supports this critical infrastructure so our partners can respond to crises in a moment’s notice. We pray that the recently announced ceasefire will hold.
