Shine a Light Wrap Up

Federation’s Jewish Community Relations Council (JCRC) named its ongoing Black & Jewish Art Collaboration program after local Miami Beach leader DeAnne Connolly Graham at its program last week at the Miami Beach JCC. Approximately 110 people attended the program, which was part of the JCRC’s larger efforts to Shine A Light on Antisemitism and Racism in partnership with the Miami Beach Black Affairs Advisory Committee, and was funded by the international Shine A Light on Antisemitism initiative. Miami Beach Mayor Dan Gelber was in attendance to say a few words and the panel was highlighted by Moj Khaghan Danial, JCRC Chair; Glendon Hall, Chair of the Miami Beach Black Affairs Advisory Committee; Ebony Johnson, NAACP Youth Advisor; and Roger Abramson, a concert producer and inductee into the Civil Rights Hall of Fame. Panelists had meaningful, public conversations about issues that have brought the Black and Jewish communities together in recent years and others that have served as challenges to progress.
