Federation Supports Ethiopian-Israeli High Schoolers Through SPACE
Your donation to the Federation's Annual Federation is helping Ethiopian-Israeli students in Pardes-Channah Karkur, Israel, succeed in junior high, high school and beyond. Through the Ethiopian National Project (ENP) School Performance and Community Empowerment program (SPACE), enrolled students are provided with tutoring, workshops and mentoring in small group settings. The initiative boasts exceptional results: In 2017, ENP 12th grade SPACE participants achieved a college matriculation rate of 81.2 percent, far surpassing the national Jewish average of 72 percent.
The program also strengthens self-esteem and leadership skills by addressing obstacles to social integration and personal development. Enrolled students prepare for army service, which enables them to choose from a broader base of positions once enlisted.
ENP’s SPACE Program has been so successful that the government of Israel has recognized it as the best way to integrate Ethiopian-Israelis into Israeli society.
