Women’s Philanthropy Welcomes New Lions
More than 130 women became new Lions of Judah during the Israel 75 Miami Mega Mission by pledging to donate at least $5,000 every year to the Annual Greater Miami Jewish Federation/UJA Campaign. The Lions were warmly welcomed into this unique international sisterhood at a private brunch hosted by Debbie Myers. They were invited to learn about the history, share the pride, connect with others and hear about the many ways to get involved. Created in Miami in 1972 by Norma Kipnis Wilson and Toby Friedland, both of blessed memory, the Lion of Judah now boasts more than 18,000 Lions worldwide. During the program, the new Lions had the opportunity to watch a short video where Kipnis Wilson shared her vision for the Lion of Judah and its importance. Although it was recorded from a prior event, it served as a meaningful treat for those who did not have the privilege to meet her before her passing a year and a half ago. She stated, "We each have a purpose to fulfill in our time here. Perhaps this was mine. I wouldn't have been the woman I am without it."
