Yerucham: A Highlight During the Israel Study Trip

During the recent Israel Study Trip led by Federation’s Israel and Overseas Department, participants visited Miami’s partnership city of Yerucham, where they saw Federation dollars at work. Through the Partnership, which builds people-to-people relationships to strengthen both cities, one of the programs that Federation supports is the city’s robotics program. The group met with students and teachers from the team and heard about various initiatives, including their time teaching internally displaced students at Dead Sea-area hotels, assisting Bedouin groups in establishing their team and their participation in the Israel Space Agency's "Tevel 2" project, which launched a satellite into space from the Vandenberg Space Force Base in California. Miamians also spent time with students involved in Youth Futures, a national intervention program that pairs mentors with at-risk children for long-term cooperative learning and growth; witnessed the dedication of a new Magen David Adom ambulance, purchased with the help of Jewish Miami donors; and joined the dedication of the Miami-Yerucham Partnership Roundabout (pictured above), which truly underscores the significance of our Partnership to the local community.
