Console the Soul: Prayers for Surfside, donations for Greater Miami Jewish Federation

The Temple Emanu-El Cultural Arts Center and Miami Beach Music Festival Orchestra will present Console the Soul, an interfaith musical gathering in support of the victims and families of the Surfside condominium collapse. The gathering will take place on Thursday, July 8th at 8:00 PM at Temple Emanu-El Cultural Arts Center, where we welcome the community into a space for unity and healing. The evening will consist of soothing orchestral and vocal classical music, under the direction of Michael Rossi, interlaced with inspirational texts from our community leaders including:

  • Alina Hudak (City Manager)
  • Rabbi Marc Philippe (Rabbi of Temple Emanu-El)
  • Reverend Juan J. Sosa (Pastor of St. Joseph Church Miami Beach)
  • Rabbi Fred Klein (Greater Miami Jewish Federation)
  • Reverend Timothy P. Carr (All Souls' Episcopal Church)

During the gathering, monetary donations will be collected to provide relief to the victims and families of the Surfside tragedy through the Greater Miami Jewish Federation. Federation together with its partners — Jewish Community Services of South Florida (JCS) and Mishkan Miami: The Jewish Connection for Spiritual Support — is providing financial assistance, chaplaincy support, crisis counseling, and social services to people impacted by the tragedy. Please do not bring any physical goods.

The Surfside tragedy has affected the community at large, our hope is to offer a musical and spiritual balm to bring Light and blessings into our lives. This musical gathering is free and open to all, please RSVP HERE to reserve your seats.

A livestream option will be available during the gathering at: https://www.tesobe.org/

Candle Lighting for Oneness - A Social Media Campaign

Please share #CandleLightingForOneness throughout social media!

Take a look at the steps below to see how you can get involved.

A Candle Lighting Campaign for Oneness

On Friday, June 18th please participate in lighting candles.

In accordance with Jewish tradition, candles are lit 18 minutes before sunset on Friday night.

In a time of increasing darkness, invite in The Light of HaShem (a Hebrew word for God, meaning The Name).

Join the Jewish community in these traditions to honor and amplify the light within us all and invite peace into the world.

Bring Light into the World

Candles on Friday night mark the beginning of Shabbat/Sabbath - a time to disconnect from the outer world and tune into the light within us. Together, let’s light candles and meditate on the flickering flame with ONE prayer to bring more light into the world.

Sing For Peace

After lighting the candles, we’ll sing a song of peace, Shalom Aleichem – May Peace Be Upon You.

Share Sacred Blessings

Share blessings of lights and peace, and acts of goodness with your loved ones and community.
