SCHECK HILLEL COMMUNITY SCHOOL MARKS 50TH ANNIVERSARY WITH ONLINE CELEBRATION
U.S. Blue Ribbon School Salutes 50 Years of Academic Excellence
Recognizing founders, leadership, faculty, staff, families and alumni, Scheck Hillel Community School will mark its 50th anniversary with an online celebration Thursday, March 18, 2021, at 7 PM (EST): Honoring our Legacy, Inspiring our Future.
The live-streamed event is complimentary for all community members to attend and will culminate by announcing the winners of one year of Scheck Hillel tuition and two round-trip tickets to Israel on American Airlines donated by Jerry Allen Travel: two anniversary gifts from the school to the community! The winners must be present to win.
Register by Thursday, March 18, at 4 PM, at eHillel.org/50.
Community members from around the world are invited to reunite and reminisce together, retracing the earliest steps of a small group of visionaries through the school’s five decades of academic excellence and looking ahead into the next 50 years. What started in a storefront in 1970 for a handful of students, now stands tall as a U.S. Blue Ribbon School and one of the largest Jewish day schools in the world, strengthening the Jewish community for generations to come.
Messages from beloved faculty, alumni, leadership and community members will punctuate an evening of storytelling and vision-sharing of what’s to come for continued advancement. The program will evoke laughter, nostalgia and memories, as well as enthusiasm for the future. Above all, it will be an expression of thanks to all those who have helped shape the school’s heritage, growth and success.
Head of School Vanessa Donaher is excited for the evening of celebration. “As we mark this extraordinary milestone, it is with kavod (respect) and hakarat hatov (gratitude) for our founders that we carry forward Scheck Hillel’s sacred mission, core values and beloved traditions, reimagining Jewish education for a new generation.”
Generous event partners include Vision Sponsors JPMorgan Chase & Co. the Scheck and Bonwitt families, and an anonymous family, as well as Heritage Sponsors Abbot Downing, Citi Private Bank, Continental Glass System, J Group Events, PNC Bank, the Beraha, Del Rio and Aguirre families and an anonymous family.
Scheck Hillel’s 50th Anniversary Celebration is online and free for all community members to attend. Registration is required to attend. Register at eHillel.org/50. , where you also can celebrate the school, faculty, alumni and families through the digital Ad Journal.

Posted by Liat Yamcek on 03/05/2021 @ 02:42 PM
The unprecedented nature and rapid spread of COVID-19 has exposed critical risks to our local economy as well as our systems of health care and education.
As we approach the 12-month mark of this prolonged crisis, our partners at the United Way of Miami-Dade are conducting a Pandemic Impact Survey to measure how Miami-Dade households have been affected by the pandemic including the financial burden on families in our community. The survey aims to collect responses from a wide range of households, income levels, as well as, small business owners.
Your confidential participation, which will take no more than 10-15 minutes, is critical to understanding COVID’s impact to date as well as help inform long-term recovery efforts. A preliminary report will be published this summer.
Take the survey HERE.
