Description

Unity in Community: Yom HaZikaron & Yom Ha’atzmaut Commemoration, Israeli Art Exhibition Art Exhibition
Wednesday, April 30 | 6:30 PM | MBJCC
Join us for a powerful evening of reflection, resilience, and celebration as we gather to honor Israel’s fallen soldiers and victims of terror, and mark the transition into Yom Ha’atzmaut—Israel’s Independence Day with special guests and an art exhibition opening by Israeli Artists.
The evening will begin with heartfelt stories from two special guests from Israel, sharing their experiences of life during war. A moving candle lighting ceremony and musical transition will follow, symbolizing the shift from mourning to celebration. Musical guest Fernando Nissim will lift our spirits with festive Israeli songs, and guests will have the opportunity to meet featured Israeli artists during a special meet & greet.
At 8:30 PM, we invite you to a film screening and artist talk with Orna Lutski, offering a poignant perspective on art, memory, and healing.
This commemorative evening also marks the opening of the special art exhibition:
My Home is My Fortress
Presented in collaboration with Ben Ami Gallery, Tel Aviv, and curated by Doron Polak, the exhibition showcases works by 50 leading Israeli artists—11 of whom are from the “Otef” region along the Gaza border. Created in response to the October 7th attacks and the ongoing conflict, these deeply personal artworks explore the meaning of home—its loss, strength, and enduring significance.
Gallery Directors: Hagit Ben Ami and Daniela Aira
Supported by: Lourdes Suarez and Isaac Fisher
Light refreshments will be served.
We invite the community to come together for this meaningful experience of unity, memory, and hope through culture and art.
