In his best-selling novel, Ruperto Long crafts a story based on real-life stories of its four main characters: Charlotte, an 8 year old Belgian girl, whose family flees Nazi-occupied Liege; Charlotte’s Uncle Alter, forced to take up duties in a ghetto; Dmitri, a French soldier, who lands in North Africa with the Foreign Legion to face Marshal Rommel’s Afrika Korps; and Domingo Lopez Delgado, a Uruguayan soldier who volunteers to be in the French Services. See how their lives highlighted by multiple tales of affection that triumph over barbarism.
Uruguayan author, engineer, and politician, Ruperto Long, is a recipient of the Order of Arts and Letters of the French Republic, the Zorrilla de San Martin Medal of Merit, and the Jerusalem Award.
